Site work begins for Gainesville hotel-office complex

GAINESVILLE - Land is being cleared for the $35 million development expected to bring a 13-story hotel and two 11-story office buildings to midtown Gainesville.

Bulldozers are other heavy equipment have begun razing the old Townview Plaza on Jewell Parkway behind the city's public safety building.

The city has sold the land on which the public safety building sits to the developer and plans to relocated the public safety complex to a site on Queen City Parkway.

City View Plaza - which will also include a multi-level parking garage - will be built by Gainesville developer Wendell Stark.
