CORNELIA - A computer glitch has caused little bit of panic among Cornelia taxpayers.

About 1,000 city of Cornelia residential and commercial tax bills went in the mail on Dec. 19. The problem: the due date on those bills was Dec. 20.

"There was a a glitch," City Clerk Janie Henderson said Tuesday. "Somehow they put the county's due date...12/20 (on the bills)."

Henderson said the city uses an independent company to prepare and mail tax notices. She said most people have been very understanding when they find out what happened. The taxes are actually due Feb. 17, 2009.
