GAINESVILLE - State Rep. Carl Rogers of Gainesville says the legislature might look at expanding the use of funds from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for education to include building maintenance.

Last Monday, school board member Sammy Smith proposed putting that on the board's legislative wish list for the upcoming session next year.

Rogers says it would take a state constitutional amendment, but it's possible. He said while it's worth looking at, passing it might be another story.
