JASPER - Law enforcement officials in one northeast Georgia county fear dozens of guns stolen from a Jasper sporting goods store may be on the streets of Atlanta.

The cache of weapons were taken during a smash-and-grab robbery on Nov. 8.

Jasper Police Chief Harold Cantrell said three men entered the Bargain Barn, an outdoor store on Highway 515. He said the suspects snatched more than 40 guns, 35 semiautomatic handguns and six semiautomatic rifles.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also think the weapons will end up in the hands of criminals.

Authorities have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individuals responsible.

The ATF 24-hour tip line is 1-888-ATF-TIPS or 1-888-283-8477.
