CLERMONT - All lanes of Cleveland Highway just south of Clermont were closed for about six hours following a tractor trailer accident near Frank Gailey Road Thursday afternoon.

Bryan Gunter with the Georgia Department of Transportation said a tractor trailer carrying chicken feed overturned spilling its entire load. He also said that power lines were knocked down as a result of the accident.

Georgia Power worked into the night to restore power to the area.

"Our main concern is opening the road back up and getting this mess cleaned up," said Trooper Meyer with the Georgia State Patrol. "People are just going to have to bear with us for a while."

Hall County officials said the tractor trailer collided with a pick-up truck just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The driver of the tractor trailer was cited for following too close.

Both drivers, who were not identified, were taken to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Authorities diverted northbound traffic onto South Black Road and southbound traffic onto Frank Gailey Road while officials cleared the scene.
