The council has held a first reading on the annexation and rezoning necessary to add homes and a commercial component to the Spout Springs Road subdivision.
"And, to use the existing sales/informational center, at a later date, for a limited commercial purpose," Planning Director James Riker said Thursday.
There had been some concerns expressed from the Sterling on the Lake residents about the proposal at a hearing last week, especially the commercial part of it.
At last week's hearing, Newland Communities Vice President Patrick Clark tried to assure them that the segment would add, not detract, from Sterling.
Riker said then that it has to meet design conditions.
