Spurrier said after the team's final full practice of the week Thursday that his freshman passer would make his second career start Saturday against Tennessee.
Garcia's first start came two weeks ago against LSU. He helped the Gamecocks take a 17-10 lead at halftime. But the Tigers rallied to win 24-17 as Garcia was sacked six times.
Garcia threw for 215 yards and a touchdown against LSU. He also had an interception late in the game that helped the Tigers hold their lead.
Spurrier said he hoped Garcia could play the whole game. If he struggles, Spurrier says backup Chris Smelley is ready to go in.
