GAINESVILLE - After 78 days in the hospital following a traffic accident in early August shortly after the new school year began, Mike Adcock, the assistant principal at Johnson High School, is finally back home.

"It was a very emotional time," his wife, Linda, said of the homecoming.

She said Mike "has been looking forward to returning home for a long time."

The first day back was spent "resting, relaxing and doing a little therapy, which consisted of going up and down the ramps and 'wheeling' in front of our home."

Adcock had part of one leg amputated as a result of the injuries he suffered in the wreck.

"It was hard work," Linda Adcock said, "but it was great to see our neighbors again."

Adcock has now begun home therapy.

"Please pray for Mike to have strength, stamina and a positive attitude as he strives to meet his goals," Linda Adcock said. "He is determined to walk again and return to the job he loves."
