ATLANTA - Hall County State Court Solicitor General Larry Baldwin was sworn in Monday as the newest Hall County State Court judge.

Baldwin was appointed to the post last month by Gov. Sonny Perdue. A spokeswoman for Perdue confirmed the swearing-in Tuesday morning.

In July, the state Judicial Nominating Commission narrowed the choices to Baldwin and Gainesville attorney Ann Adams Shuler. The new judgeship was created by the state Legislature earlier this year.

Baldwin ran unopposed for re-election in the July Republican Primary, and his name is on the Nov. 4 General Election ballot.

After three years of private practice, Baldwin became an assistant solicitor for Hall County in 1998 and was appointed chief assistant solicitor the following year. In 2004 he became Hall County's solicitor general for State Court.

He becomes the third State Court judge in Hall County. Charles Wynne and Gene Roberts hold the other two positions.
