ATHENS -- Walter Hill is no longer a member of the Georgia football team.

Bulldogs coach Mark Richt revealed on Wednesday that the redshirt freshman split end from East Hall left the squad earlier in the week.

"Walter Hill has been dismissed from the team because he didn't live up the standard of the Georgia way," Richt said indicating the decision was made a couple of days ago.

With the news of Hill's departure, Richt was asked about recruiting needs at receiver, and he said the Bulldogs will need to sign at least two this year.

"We've got three seniors, Tony (Wilson) just had surgery, Walter is gone, so that leaves us with five in the spring that can run," said Richt. "There are not many schools across the country that run at least eight or nine, and we had 10 roll into this season. It gives us a greater sense of urgency to sign receivers. It is a much better opportunity for someone to come in and play."

Due to inclement weather, the 10th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs moved Wednesday's practice indoors to the Ramsey Student Center with the offense and defense working out for an hour each on a couple of basketball courts.

After practice, Richt provided an update on the status of several Bulldogs, saying junior defensive end Rod Battle could play Saturday while junior split end Kris Durham and senior linebacker Dannell Ellerbe are out due to injuries. Battle started the first two games but has been out since then due to a neck stinger.

"I'd say Rod Battle might play, it's over 50 percent that he will," said Richt. "We were getting low at depth in that position, and Rod was a starter for us at the beginning of the year, and he will help us. In relation to the season, he's fresh."

Due to Wednesday's indoor workout, Georgia will add an additional 10 minutes of kicking practice to Thursday's session.

Georgia (4-1, 1-1 SEC) and Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC) will kick off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and CBS will televise the game live from Sanford Stadium. All Georgia games also are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on WDUN AM-550. The radio audio also can be heard worldwide on both georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, and on XM satellite radio.
