Spokesman Gordon Higgins said the "saving grace" came Tuesday night.
"Fortunately we got a good delivery last night. Overnight the delivery came in," Higgins said Wednesday morning.
Higgins added that the system has been in pretty good shape since Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast almost three weeks ago, disputing supplies to many parts of the Southeast.
"We got a major delivery prior to Hurricane Ike hitting," he said. "Since then our supply has really been diminishing."
Higgins said virtually all of the system's buses run on diesel, with just a very few that use gasoline.
