Drug suspect found hiding under house

GAINESVILLE - Hall County authorities report arresting a drug suspect who hid under a house in the Crescent Drive area after he ran from them when they tried to arrest him.

The Multi Agency Narcotics Squad, along with Gang Task Force agents, arrested 29-year-old James Lee Thornton, Jr. on Monday.

Officers said when they tried to arrest Thornton, he fled the scene in his vehicle and then on foot, discarding $2,800 worth of cocaine along the way. He was ultimately found hiding under a house.

Thornton was taken into custody without further incident and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, abandonment of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and obstruction.
