GALEO Institute of Leadership planned in Gainesville this spring

ATLANTA - Gainesville will be a site this spring for one of several Institutes for Leadership planned around the state by the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials.<br /> <br /> In addition to Gainesville, the group has begun accepting applications for the sessions to be held in Dalton, Atlanta, Columbus and Savannah.<br /> <br /> The Gainesville meetings - which will be conducted in and for English-speaking participants - will be held on Saturdays over a period of weeks in March and April. They are open to anyone, regardless of racial or ethnic backgrounds.<br /> <br /> GALEO has implemented the GALEO Institute for Leadership to focus upon the leadership development of the Latino community across our state, according to executive director Jerry Gonzalez. "As part of the GALEO Institute for Leadership, we have formed a strategic partnership with the University of Georgia's Fanning Institute to expand and develop our joint efforts for the Community Leadership Program," he said. <br /> <br /> Participants will be selected based on their "potential for leadership and their eagerness in implementing community betterment projects and initiatives."
