MURRAYVILLE - A wood-burning stove purchased at a yard sale was the cause of a workshop fire in Murrayville Friday morning.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the 30-foot-by-48-foot workshop caught fire at about 11:15 a.m. at 5434 Marlow Road and is a total loss.

"This being a small structure, made out of the material that it was, it was very quickly consumed by fire," he said.

About $100,000 worth of items was lost in the fire, including expensive woodworking and mechanic tools, as well as several lawnmowers.

Cagle said the fire was caused by a wood-burning stove that the workshop's owner had gotten from a yard sale.

Officials aren't sure exactly what part of the stove malfunctioned, but Cagle said the fire was an accident.
