JEFFERSON - City officials are putting their 6-month-old AM radio station on the market to recoup part of the $120,000 spent on the project.

The station went off the air last month after not attracting as many advertisers as city officials expected. It was approved by the Jefferson City Council last summer in hopes of generating money to help pay for parks and recreation projects.

City officials had projected they would bring in $250,000 a year in ad revenue. But in six months of broadcasting, the tally was just $8,700.

The station, which featured a full schedule of talk show and sporting events, was barely audible in part of the city.
