Great Decisions is an educational program started by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) in 1954. The FPA is a non-profit, non partisan organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Founded in 1918, FPA provides independent publications, programs and forums to increase public participation in matters relating to those policy issues.
The meetings usually last about one and a half hours. Discussion of the topics will begin at 3:00 January 22. Meetings will continue at the same time and place for eight weeks or longer, if warranted. Each session is led by one or more of the group's participants or by invited guests. The forum is open to all persons in the northeast Georgia area who wish to discuss foreign policy issues in a cordial, non-partisan environment.
The tentative topics for Great Decisions 2008 are Iraq, the European Union at Age 50, Talking with our Enemies, Russia, U.S. Defense and Security Policy, Latin America, U.S.-China Trade Policy, and Private Philanthropy.
