Festival of Trees spared

<p>Atlanta's Festival of Trees has been spared in a pared down version.</p><p>Organizers announced plans during the summer to scrap the 30-year-old festival because of rising costs and scheduling conflicts.</p><p>The fundraiser, which has raised 16 million dollars to help sick and injured children since it began in 1977, had been held at the Georgia World Congress Center since 1990.</p><p>Now a scaled down version of the festival will be held at the Atlanta History Center.</p><p>More than 60 designer trees and wreaths will be on display and for sale in three of the history center's galleries from December 1st through 19th.</p><p>History Center spokeswoman Hillary Hardwick says the decision to host the festival is about keeping the Atlanta tradition alive.</p>
