Fire damages Gainesville medical office

GAINESVILLE - A fire caused about $10,000 damage early Monday at Georgia Sports Orthopedic Specialists in east Gainesville.

City Fire Department Battalion Chief Terry Poll says the damage was caused by an electrical short in a water cooler in a second floor lobby of the building at 1466 Jesse Jewell Parkway.

"And, it was just contained to the lobby area itself," Chief Poll said. "There was smoke damage and the wall that the water cooler was mounted on was actually where the fire damage was."

Poll says the call came in around 1:00.
