The work involves the resurfacing of 4.146 miles of Browns Bridge Road/Jesse Jewell Parkway from McEver Road to E.E. Butler Parkway.
The work is expected to begin this fall, with a completion date of next April 30, according to state DOT Commissioner Harold Linnenkohl.
Matthews' bid was $1,717,817.40.
DOT officials said Monday most of the work will occur overnights weeknights. There are work hour restrictions in the contract prohibiting lane closures during morning and afternoon rush hour and during the day on Saturdays and Sundays.
