Longtime GSC Dean dies

ATHENS - Funeral services will be held Saturday for Joel Paul, retired longtime Dean of Academic Affairs at Gainesville State College. <br> <br> Paul died Wednesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.<br> <br> Paul, 75, was one of the original employees of the college when it opened in 1966. <br> <br> He was a professor of Political Science, as well as Geography. In 1986, Paul was named Outstanding Faculty Member by the student government of Gainesville State College. Upon retirement, he was awarded Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Geography at GSC, as well as Dean Emeritus of Academic Affairs. <br> <br> The funeral will be in Crawford, Georgia.
