ATLANTA - The state Department of Transportation Board will meet at Lake Lanier Islands Wednesday and Thursday.

The board will meet at Emerald Pointe Hotel and Conference Center.

Hall County is represented on the board by its current chairman, Mike Evans of Cumming.

Evans said his home county, Forsyth, hosted a board meeting about three years ago "and I have wanted to get up to Hall County to give the board members what is going on in Hall County, see all the great things that are happening, not only from the transportation standpoint but from the community standpoint."

Evans called Hall "a significant part of my district."

According to the agenda for the meeting, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kit Dunlap and Gainesville businessman Phillip Wilheit are among the people from Gainesville scheduled to speak to the Board. The DOT's Gainesville District Engineer, Russell McMurry, is also expected to address the group, updating it on DOT projects in northeast Georgia.

The meeting, announced earlier this year, is one of three the board will hold outside of Atlanta this year.
