Gainesville population increases by 1,000+

WASHINGTON - The Census Bureau says Gainesville added about 1,100 residents between July 2005 and last July.

The increase of 1,149 brings the estimated population of Gainesville to 33,340.

Elsewhere in Hall County, Flowery Branch was right behind Gainesville's increase, growing by 1,078 people; while Lula added 198; Oakwood, 178; Clermont, 36; and, the population of Gillsville was virtually unchanged.

According to the report, Atlanta was 20th in the country, adding nearly 10,000 residents between July 2005 and last July.
