Tuggle, Ham elected to Divisional Class

DALLAS - Former Valdosta State linebacker Jessie Tuggle and ex-Georgia Southern quarterback Tracy Ham have been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame Divisional Class, which honors players and coaches who did not play major college football.

Tuggle played linebacker for Valdosta State from 1983-through-86, setting a school career record for tackles with 340 and being picked all-Gulf South Conference three times. He went on to play 14 seasons in the N-F-L for the Atlanta Falcons.

Ham played at Georgia Southern from 1983-86, where he led the Eagles to two Division One-Double-A championships. He is known as the only player in college football history to rush for more than three-thousand yards and pass for over five-thousand yards and went on to a successful career in the Canadian Football League.

Also elected yesterday to the Hall of Fame Divisional Class were former Florida A-and-M coach Billy Joe, Kentucky State quarterback Joe Kendall (1934-36)and Bloomsburg linebacker Frank Sheptock (1982-95). Jim Christopherson, who won 218 games as coach of Concordia College in Minnesota from 1969-2000 was also elected.
