New housing report

GAINESVILLE - New housing activity continued at a brisk pace in Gainesville last month.

Twenty-nine permits for new, single-family structures were approved by building inspection services. In March, 58 were okayed.

That means that in just two months, the total number of such permits is now more than half the number that was approved in all of 2006, which was 142.
