DOUGLASVILLE - The Gainesville woman who was imprisoned for statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy she had married failed Tuesday to change custody arrangements involving their 15-month-old baby.

Lisa Lynette Clark asked a judge to remove her son from the home of the foster couple who have been caring for him while she has been in prison. She said the couple has not brought her son to prison to visit her often enough.

She wants another couple to care for the child, but Judge Robert James denied her request.

Clark spent nine months in jail last year after pleading guilty in Hall County to statutory rape and then was sentenced to two more years in prison after pleading guilty in Douglas County to aiding her teenage husband's flight out of state in February 2006.

A larger custody battle looms next year when Clark is scheduled to get out of prison. The couple who have been caring for the child say they plan to seek permanent custody.
