GAINESVILLE - Weather permitting, motorists on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood will another reason to hit the brakes Tuesday.

That's when the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plans to activate a new traffic light at the Mathis Drive intersection.

That's at the western entrance to Gainesville State College and Lanier Tech - and "lines us with the entrance into the new Wal-Mart," explained Gainesville GDOT Communications Officer Teri Pope.

It means both campus entrances will now be controlled by a traffic signal.

In the event of inclement weather, Pope says the signal will be activated Wednesday.
