GAINESVILLE - As many as 4,000 Georgia Power customers have been without power Monday across Hall and Lumpkin counties because of the high winds.

District Manager Darrell Snyder says most of the outages are in eastern Hall County and Dahlonega. Snyder says if you spot a downed powerline or a tree across a line "The best thing to do is to stay clear of that area and just call us and report the outage."

Snyder adds that all the outages have been caused by downed trees. He says crews will work around the clock until all power is restored.

A Jackson EMC spokeswoman says customers didn't experience many problems Monday during the high winds.

Bonnie Jones says they only experienced one circuit outage, "And that was a blink out of our College Square station that invlovled about 27 hundred customers."

Jones says other outages were scattered from Murrayville to Oakwood.
