Six Flags Over Georgia has closed its gates after the amusement park's offer of free admission created a traffic jam on Interstate 20.

Cars began lining up as early as 3:30 a.m. for the offer scheduled to run from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. today. As a result, traffic is jammed in both directions.

By a few minutes after 6 a.m., the parking lots already were filled, and the park closed its gates.

Some parents had let their children out of the car to walk down I-20 to take advantage of the free admission. But Six Flags' officials turned those people away, saying people had to arrive in cars to take advantage of the offer.
