Two men have been charged in the deaths of two teenage cousins whose bodies were found behind a school earlier this month.

Jeremy L. Moody, 29, and William Franklin Felts Jr., 34, each face two counts of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with intent to rob and kidnapping with bodily injury, Fulton County police Capt. Jim Lee said.

The cousins _ Sierra Kimble, 13, and Delarlonva Mattox Jr., 15 _ were walking from their south Fulton County neighborhood April 5 to a nearby strip mall for snacks when they crossed the path of two area crack cocaine users desperate for cash, Lee said. The men attacked the pair with a screwdriver, stabbing the teens _ who had less than $20 between them _ to death, Lee said.

Moody and Felts left the teens' bodies in a wooded area near Mary M. Bethune Elementary School less than a mile from their home, Lee said.

Originally, Moody told police he watched Calvin Penn Jr., 36, kill the teens. Penn was arrested but was cleared of the charges and released from jail Friday.

He said he plans to get a job and stay out of trouble with police.

"I've got kids," he said. "I'm sorry for what happened to those kids. I just want the world to know I don't kill kids."

Lee said Friday that police are "confident we have the people responsible for the death of these children."

___

HASH(0x1cd9e34)
