The Falcons (8-3, 5-1 in the region) led 4-2 going into the seventh behind a solid performance from Matt Pilgrim on the mound, who had allowed just two hits and two runs to that point.
But the Bobcats (5-4, 3-2) did not quit getting three straight hits to load the bases with one out. After a second out, Gilmer's leadoff hitter tied the game with a two-run single. The Falcons brought in Cody Ackerman in relief and his first pitch was smoked to left field scoring two more runs giving Gilmer a 6-4 lead.
That's when the fun begins for Flowery Branch. After getting Patrick Henry and Danny Price to hit into outs, Gilmer was just one out from a big road win.
But Travis Coxworth got hit by a pitch, and Justin Kendall and Chad Rackley both singled to left to load the bases.
Greg Palmer then had the wildest at-bat of the season so far for the Falcons. The second pitch of the at-bat is wild scoring Coxworth and then two pitches later Palmer hits a shot up the box that hits the pitcher's shin.
While Palmer is racing to first the pitcher finds the ball and tries to flip it to first. The throw hits the runner, the first baseman misses the ball and the Falcons score the winning runs.
For Flowery Branch, senior Justin Kendall had two hits including a home run. Palmer and Cameron Wilson had two hits for the Falcons.
