DAHLONEGA - Amid strong opposition in some circles, Lumpkin County Commissioners have voted to build a new courthouse on land now occupied by little league ballfields.

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, consultants had told county officials the site, on Morrison Moore Parkway, was the best of the bunch, according to Lumpkin County Commission Chairman Steve Gooch, a member of the search committee.

Lumpkin commissioners have now voted 3-to-1 to build the new courthouse on the site.
