Milledgeville judge sentenced to 25 years for molesting child

<p>A former municipal court judge was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday night after a jury found him guilty of child molestation and statutory rape.</p><p>Jon Philip Carr, 53, of Milledgeville was found guilty on four of five counts of child molestation and two of three counts of statutory rape.</p><p>He was also sentenced to 15 years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender.</p><p>The jury took about seven hours to reach its verdict after attorneys finished their closing arguments Friday morning. The trial began on Feb. 19.</p><p>Carr was accused of "indecent" sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl in his Milledgeville law office.</p><p>He was a municipal court judge in Ivey, McIntyre and Irwinton and a solicitor for Milledgeville Municipal Court before resigning following his June 25, 2006 arrest.</p><p>Michelle Elizabeth Bridges, 21, pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to five charges, including pimping and child molestation, in connection with the case.
