UNDATED - Get ready to pay more for cable TV and high-speed internet service if you live in Hall County.

Charter Communications, which serves most of the county, is increasing its rates for about half its customers.

Basic cable service will increase to $16.99 a month from $15.29; Expanded Cable will cost $34 instead of $33.70; and Basic and Expanded goes from $48.99 to $50.99.

Charges for Internet service will increase from $1-$5 per month although charges for the four most expensive packages will remain the same. Details of the changes were spelled out in a letter that should have been delivered to most subscribers last week.

Skip James, regional spokesman, says the new rates are effective March 1.

That's also when Comcast, which serves Cumming and Forsyth County among other places, will increase its cable rates. However, Comcast's Internet rates will stay the same.
