Buford girls look to get past 6-AA play-in

BUFORD - Despite being ranked as high as No. 2 early in the season, the Buford girls basketball team will have to survive a play-in game Monday against Lovett just to get into the Region 6-AA Tournament.

The Lady Wolves will play host to Lovett at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to play Paideia Tuesday at Holy Innocents' in the first round.

The Buford boys earned a bye into the first round and will not play its first round game until Wednesday.

Banks County will play host to the North subregion play-in games in Region 8-AA. The Lady Leopards will play Dawson County at 6 p.m. with the Banks County boys playing Rabun County at 7 p.m.

The Dawson County boys and the Fannin County girls won the North subregion titles and earned automatic berths into the Class AA state tournament.

Here is Monday's schedule for play-in games in Region 8-AA and Region 6-AA:

REGION 8-AA TOURNAMENT

at Banks County

- Dawson County girls vs. Banks County, 6 p.m.

- Rabun County boys vs. Banks County, 7:30 p.m.

at North Oconee

- Morgan County girls vs. Washington-Wilkes, 4 p.m.

- Greene County boys vs. North Oconee, 5:30 p.m.

- Oglethorpe County girls vs. North Oconee, 7 p.m.

- Oglethorpe County boys vs. Morgan County, 8:30 p.m.

REGION 6-AA TOURNAMENT (at individual sites)

Creekview girls at Wesleyan, 5:30 p.m.

Lovett girls at Buford, 6 p.m.
