'07 construction activity off to a robust start

GAINESVILLE - The building permit for a $10 million dollar parking garage highlights the monthly report on construction activity in Gainesville and Hall County.

In addition, there were 102 permits approved for new, single-family houses in January - 94 of them in the county, compared to 104 a year ago. Eight were approved in the city, compared to 13 a year ago.

The parking garage permit pushed the value of construction of all kinds in the city last month to $13.2 million, compared to $4.3 million in January 2006. In the county, that figure is $25 million; a year ago, it was $25.7.
