KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee cornerback Inquoris ``Inky'' Johnson can no longer play football after suffering a severe injury during last season, coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday.
Johnson was hit hard during the Air Force game on Sept. 9. He had surgery to repair blood vessels in his upper right arm and shoulder area and later went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for surgery to repair nerve damage.
Team officials have not released many details about how much use Johnson has of his right arm, but he said last fall he could not write with his right hand.
``Inky is in school and is doing fine. Got a great attitude. Wants to coach, I think. Inky is just a wonderful young man. If they were all like Inky Johnson it would be a wonderful world,'' Fulmer said.
The team is hoping Johnson will be approved for a medical scholarship.
``He'll be well taken care of,'' Fulmer said.
Johnson, of Atlanta, was a junior last season.
