MONROE - Two men were killed on Saturday when a helicopter crashed in rural Walton County near Monroe, authorities said.

Roy Hubbard, 43, the owner of the craft, was killed immediately when the helicopter nosedived into a thicket of trees on his property. The second man, who authorities did not identify pending notification of kin, died later at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Chief Deputy Bruce Wright of the Walton County Sheriff's Department said it wasn't known which man was flying the chopper because both were pilots.

The Federal Aviation Authority will investigate, Wright said.

Wright said it wasn't immediately known whether they were getting ready to land or if they had just taken off. He said there is a small landing pad on Hubbard's property.
