ChoicePoint selling shareholder services business

<p>Data provider ChoicePoint Inc. said Thursday it is selling its shareholder services business to a New York private equity group.</p><p>Terms of the sale of EquiSearch Services to Palladian Capital Partners were not disclosed.</p><p>Alpharetta-based Choicepoint, which collects, sells access to and analyzes consumers' personal information, said the divestiture is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results.</p><p>EquiSearch, based in White Plains, N.Y., is a provider of lost account holder search and recovery services. The company was founded in 1988 and was acquired by ChoicePoint in 1998.</p><p>ChoicePoint collects data on individuals, including Social Security numbers, real estate holdings and current and former addresses. It also offers businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations software technology and information designed to anticipate and respond to economic and physical risk, and analyzes information for the insurance sector. The company holds about 19 billion records.</p>
