3 missionaries from Georgia killed in Honduras car crash

<p>Three U.S. missionaries from Georgia were killed Tuesday in a car crash in eastern Honduras, authorities said.</p><p>The two men and a woman, who have not been officially identified, were killed when the military truck they were riding flipped over and crashed in Olancho province, near the Honduras-Nicaragua border, said Jose Andino, a spokesman with Honduras police.</p><p>Andino said 17 others were injured in the crash.</p><p>Andino said the missionaries were heading to the remote village of Malapais when the accident occurred. The missionaries were part of a group of 28 people who traveled from Georgia to Honduras with the Georgia-based Honduras Outreach Inc. for a weeklong mission to the Central American country, Jerry Eickhoff, president of the board of directors of the charity group told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.</p><p>The churches are in Newnan and Cartersville.</p><p>Eickoff wouldn't identify the victims and said pastors of the victims' churches were notifying the families on Tuesday night. He said the charity has been sending volunteers to Honduras for 18 years to help poor villages by setting up running water, connecting electricity and paving roads.</p>
