COLUMBUS - Camden County quarterback Major Herron passed for one touchdown and ran for another and the South overcame five turnovers to beat the North 28-6 on Saturday in the GACA All-Star Classic.

Herron, who had 91 yards rushing on nine carries, scored on a 10-yard run to give the South a 14-0 lead in the third quarter.

The North cut the lead to eight points in the third when Flowery Branch's Jaybo Shaw connected with Gerald Ford of Gainesville for an 11-yard touchdown.

But the South pulled away with a couple of fourth quarter scores. Herron, on his only pass attempt, threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Alphonso Dennard of Wilcox County then Northwest Whitfield's Victor Daniels returned an interception 66-yards for a score.

Earlier, the South drove the ball 82 yards on 10 plays for the only touchdown in the first half. Carver-Columbus' Jarmon Forston caught a 10-yard touchdown from Miguel Starks.
