New DOT road construction chief for Hall, Dawson, Forsyth

GAINESVILLE - A Suwanee woman is now in charge of construction and maintenance on all state routes and Interstates in Hall, Forsyth and Dawson counties.

Hiral Patel has been named DOT's Area Engineer for the three counties.

Patel has been with DOT since 1995 and most recently served as Assistant Area Engineer for Construction.

She began her career with the DOT as a Transportation Engineer. She has managed projects including road widening, bridge construction, and ATMS or Automated Traffic Management Systems projects. She was promoted to Area One Assistant Area Engineer for Construction in 2004. In this position Hiral is responsible for all Construction projects on the Interstates and State Routes in Hall, Forsyth and Dawson counties.

As Area Engineer, Patel supervises 55 employees. She is responsible for the construction and maintenance of over 300 centerline miles of State Routes and Interstates in her area.

Hiral graduated from Gujarat University, India with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Structural Design.

Hiral and her husband Prashant live in Suwanee. They are the parents of 3 children: Sheena, Sonia and Shannen.
