JASPER - The Pickens girls basketball team won its third straight game Saturday night after knocking off rival Fannin County 51-38.

The Nettes (5-3) lead 14-11 after one quarter and held a slim 25-23 lead at the half.

Pickens opened up the third quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 35-27 lead but Fannin's Katelyn Powell hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the lead to 35-30.

The Nettes put the game away in the fourth with outstanding free throw shooting.

Powell lead Fannin County (6-3) with 13 points. It was the second straight loss for the Lady Rebels to teams from Region 7-AAA in as many nights. They fell to Gilmer on Friday.

Pickens will resume its 7-AAA schedule traveling to Lumpkin County Tuesday.

Fannin is off until Friday when it opens its Region 8B-AA schedule on the road at Dawson County.
