FBI seeks help identifying bicycle bandit

Posted 8:56AM on Saturday 8th December 2007 ( 17 years ago )
ATLANTA - The FBI has released several photos of a man who has robbed several metro Atlanta banks, including one in Cumming.

Special Agent Stephen Emmett said they are hoping that with the public's help, they can determine his identity.

"Given the great quality photographs available, law enforcement feels strongly that someone should be able to ID this guy for us," he said.

Last month we reported that Forsyth Sheriff's Office was seeking the so-called "bicycle bandit" after he robbed a Regions Bank located at Hwy. 9 and Post Road.

"The bandit, after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller, left the bank and rode off on a red bicycle to a nearby Publix Shopping Center," said Sheriff's Captain Frank Huggins. "At that time a dye pack which was concealed in the money exploded. The man then escaped either on foot or in a vehicle. The bicycle and money were recovered at the scene.

"The robber is described as a white male, 40-50 years of age, medium build. He was wearing a black wig, black pants, black jacket and tennis shoes. He may very well be covered with a red stain from the dye pack."

Anyone with any information on this robbery is asked to call the FBI's Atlanta office at (404) 679-6111 or Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigation Division, at (770) 781-2200.
