This is the second year in a row that Goodson has received this award which was presented in November at the GACLEA Annual Meeting at Emory University.
The award is designed to recognize a member of GACLEA for their outstanding contributions to the organization and to campus safety. The award is presented annually to the member of the organization whose dedication and service to the association and whose professionalism in the promotion of public safety in higher education exceeds that of his peers.
Goodson assumed his responsibilities as Director of Public Safety at GSC Oct. 15. He has previously served as the Deputy Director of Public Safety at Georgia College and State University and served as president of the GACLEA for 2006-07.
He is the third Hall County law enforcement/public safety officer to be recognized with the top award from their peers.
Hall County Sheriff Steve Cronic who was named the Georgia Sheriffs' Association's Sheriff of the Year and Gainesville Police Chief Frank Hooper who was named as this year's Outstanding Chief of the Year by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). Both Cronic and Hooper received their awards in July of this year.
