WHITE HOUSE - President Bush is calling on the international community to keep the pressure on Iran concerning that country's nuclear programs.

At a news conference today, Bush reacted to a new intelligence report that found that Iran halted its development of a nuclear bomb. He says that report serves as a ''warning signal'' that Iran had such a program and halted it.

He says, ''The reason why it's a warning signal is they could restart it.''

The intelligence assessment reversed earlier U.S. claims that Iran had restarted its weapons program in 2005 after suspending it in 2003 amid international pressure.

The U.N.'s atomic watchdog agency says the U.S. finding is consistent with its own.

Bush says he only learned of the new intelligence assessment last week.

At his last news conference, in mid-October, he said that people who want to avoid ''World War III'' should work to keep Iran from having the knowledge needed to make a nuclear weapon.
