Elephants fall to Marist

ATLANTA - Marist outscored Gainesville 31-21 in the second half to take a 53-44 win Saturday in boys basketball action.

Gainesville (1-2) led 23-22 at halftime but was held in check for most of the second half. The war Eagles (2-1) used a 16-11 third quarter to take the lead and then increased it in the fourth quarter.

Allan Dockery and Martin Estes each scored 12 points to the Red Elephants. Gerald Ford had five points and eight rebounds for Gainesville. D.J. McDuffy had eight points.

J Mann led Marist with a game-high 16 points. Kash Manzelli and Pat Hagan each had 13 points for the War Eagles.

Gainesville will open its Region 7-AAA schedule Tuesday traveling to White County.
