White County punches playoff ticket with win over Lumpkin County

DAHLONEGA - After the Indians from Lumpkin County (5-5, 2-3) drove the length of the field on the first possession of the game, the Warriors from White County (7-3, 4-1) did all the scoring the rest of the way to win the game 32-7 and secure the number four spot in the Region 7-AAA playoffs next Friday night.<br> <br> The Indians looked strong on the first possession. They held onto the ball for nine minutes on their way to a Cameron Jackson two-yard touchdown run. Ben Ayres kicked the extra point and the Indians led 7-0. <br> <br> The Warriors wouldn't take quite as long to score. On their fourth play form scrimmage, Tyler Norman ran in from 22 yards out. But the Indians blocked the extra point attempted to stay on top 7-6. <br> <br> The Indian next possession ended after three plays and an Ayres punt. The Warriors scored early in the second quarter on their next possession when Norman sprinted around the right side and into the end zone. The two=point attempt failed and the Warriors led 12-7. <br> <br> The Indians moved the ball on their next possession, but the Warriors' defense stiffened. When the Warriors took over, they drove down the field with a purpose and scored on a 12-yard Jessie Brown run. The two-point attempt again failed. The score at halftime was 18-7.<br> <br> The Warriors received the kickoff to open the second half and worked their way down to the red zone, whne Norman scored his third touchdown. Eli McAlester rounded out the scoring for the Warriors. The Warriors only punted twice on the night.<br> <br> The Warriors will travel to Carver of Atlanta next Friday night to take on the 8th-ranked Panthers. The Panthers are undefeated after beating Therrell of Atlanta 36-6 this past Friday night.
