Trojans, Buford complete perfect regular season

GAINESVILLE - North Hall put the finishing touches on just its second-ever undefeated regular season with an eye-opening 53-6 win over Chestatee Friday at War Eagle Stadium.

The Class AAA third-ranked Trojans will carry the No. 1 seed from Region 7-AAA into the playoffs, which begin next week at The Brickyard. Flowery Branch, which hammered West Hall 41-7 in its finale, will be the No. 2 seed. Gainesville will be the third seed from 7-AAA.

White County filled out the final Region 7-AAA playoff spot with a 32-7 win over Lumpkin County on the road. It will be the first playoff appearance since 2001 for the Warriors and just the second-ever trip to the playoff in school history.

Class AA No. 1 Buford completed its seventh undefeated regular season in school history with a 21-0 win over Lovett Friday. The win also gave them the top seed from Region 6-AA heading into next week's playoffs.

Class AAAA seventh-ranked Habersham Central will carry the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAAA after whipping Heritage28-0 in a region play-in game in Mt. Airy.

In Region 8-AA Banks County's bid for its first playoff berth since 1997 came to an end against Washington-Wilkes in a 42-26 loss in a region play-in game in Homer. The Leopards put on a furious second half rally after trailing 26-7 at halftime.

Jefferson's bid for its first Region 8-A title in 29 years fell short in a 28-6 loss to Athens Academy in Watkinsville. The Dragons will be the No. 2 seed and play host to a first round game next week.

Johnson closed out its season with a 27-6 win over Pickens at The Dungeon.

East Hall closed out its regular season with its first win of the season beating Gilmer 29-17.
