Authorities said Kathy Elaine Rylee, 49, and William Thomas Mason, 51, are in jail without bond after a preliminary hearing in Banks County Magistrate Court for the murder of Randy Lynn Rylee, 47, on August 26.
Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman said that the sister was the one who reported her brother's death. She was originally charged with giving false information to investigators, but posted bond and was released from jail on those charges.
At the same time, Mason was charged with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a homemade gun. Sheriff Chapman would not say if that weapon was used in Randy Rylee's murder. Mason had also been free on bond on those charges.
The sheriff declined to discuss motives in the case, nor would he talk about how Randy Rylee was killed.
A second man, Jerry O'Neal Trotter of Homer, also faces charges in connection with Randy Rylee's death, although he has not been charged with murder. Trotter is free on bond.
