UNDATED - The Cleveland Post Office may soon be named for a fallen White County soldier... Sgt. Jason Harkins.

Congressman Nathan Deal of Gainesville says he plans to ask Congress to pass a resolution designating the post office in memory of Harkins who was killed in Iraq earlier this year. Earlier this year, Cong. Deal announced plans to seek to have the Lula Post Office named in memory of another solider from our area who was killed in Iraq, Pfc. Johnathan Millican.

Meantime, the White County Republican Party has announced plans to give an annual award in memory of Sgt. Harkins.

Harkins has already been posthumously awarded the Army's Silver Star.
